UTAH SHERIFFS’ SUPPORT THE APPOINTMENT OF BRIAN NIELSON TO SERVE AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE UTAH DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Sheriffs’ Association President, Sheriff Chad Jensen of Cache County issued the following statement of support:

“Governor-elect Cox has hit a home run with his selection of Brian Nielson to serve as the Director of the Utah Department of Corrections. Sheriff Nielson is an outstanding Sheriff in Sanpete County. He is always on the cutting edge of new technology, new techniques and programs related to Utah’s jails and prisons, and he is known for his ability to be smart on crime as opposed to just tough on crime. On behalf of Utah’s sheriffs – thank you Governor-elect Cox.”

Utah Sheriffs’ Association Executive Director, Scott Burns issued the following statement of support:

“Having had an opportunity to see all aspects of the criminal justice system, from my time serving in the White House to my time serving as Piute County Attorney, I am so thankful that Governor-elect Cox selected someone with vast experience to take the helm of the Utah Department of Corrections.”
